California is at or above the national average for every data point surveyed about summer learning programs.
46% of California families reported at least one child in a summer learning program in 2013 compared to a 33% national average. In 2008, only 27% of California families reported at least one child in a summer learning program. (2nd highest in nation, after DC)
62% of families say they want their children enrolled in a summer learning program compared to a 51% national average. (2nd highest in nation, after DC)
90% of California parents support public funding for summer learning programs compared to an 85% national average. In 2009 only 84% of California parents supported public funding. (4th highest in nation)
