Summer Matters is taking a road trip! Representatives from the Summer Matters campaign will be traveling the state in a vehicle wrapped in the Summer Matters logo and speaking to media outlets about the unique value of summer learning. Here is a link to one of the interviews.
The goals of the Summer Matters Road Trip (which we are abbreviating as #SMRT) are:
- To bring awareness to the value and uniqueness of summer learning programs
- To raise awareness about summer learning vs. traditional remedial summer school
- To showcase some of the areas of focus of each featured program (i.e. STEM, gardening, literacy, art, dance, nutrition and more).
- To highlight local programs as part of larger statewide Summer Matters campaign
- To connect with new and existing media networks across the state in the fun, engaging and hands-on Summer Matters way
- To invite media to visit or cover summer learning programs in their communities as they launch in June 2016
Summer Matters representatives will visit news outlets throughout the state to talk about the uniqueness of each summer learning program. They will present reporters and producers with the following collateral materials: press kits, tote bags, science kits, gardening kits, and sets of books.
Some of the major media markets we are targeting are: Sacramento, San Diego, Los Angeles, Fresno, Gilroy, San Francisco, and Oakland. If you represent a media outlet that would like to be included in the Summer Matters Road Trip please contact us, or download a press kit here.
