The Wallace Foundation recently released a report that may be helpful in building summer learning systems. Growing Together, Learning Together: What Cities Have Discovered About Building Afterschool Systems, is a comprehensive report summarizing lessons learned over 12 years of the foundation’s efforts to build citywide systems to support quality after school programs.
The report focuses on the four elements that the most current evidence and experience suggest are essential to a successful system: strong leadership from major players, coordination that fits the local context, effective use of data and a comprehensive approach to quality. The report was released with an accompanying infographic that summarizes the four elements of a successful system.
